Kinesio Taping At South Pointe Physical Rehab

Kinesio tape is thought to increase awareness of muscle engagement, known as proprioception. It can help remind the person of form and posture when they are active. Kinesio tape flexibility allows for recovery without limiting range of motion. The tape can be applied in such a way that it helps assist or oppose a muscle contraction to aid the healing process. In addition, some claim that it slightly lifts the skin away from the muscle, which is supposed to help reduce swelling, bruising and promote blood flow to the muscle.

What Are Common Uses Of Kinesio Taping?

In addition to improving muscle behavior, Kinesio Tape is believed to microscopically lifts the skin, which can reduce discomfort and facilitate lymphatic drainage. This effect is acheived through the convolutions that form in the skin as a result of the microscopic lifting, which allows for decreases in inflammation, while reducing pressure and allowing fluids to flow more freely in the targeted area.

Due to the many ways, locations, and reasons for applying this therapy, the uses are almost endless.
