Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) involves the use of specialized tools to assess soft tissue quality, and to treat areas that have scar tissue adhesions, soft tissue restrictions, myofascitis, chronic inflammation, and degeneration. The goal of this treatment is to create a micro-trauma to the area, we are breaking up soft tissue adhesions/restrictions and promoting healthy blood flow to the area. These adhesions are often palpable through the skin. The area that gets treated with IASTM will be red afterwards, which goes away quickly after treatment.

Research shows that Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) may have an impact on physiological changes by providing an increase in blood flow, reduction in tissue viscosity, myofascial release, interruption of pain receptors, and improvement of flexibility of underlying tissue. Common conditions treated using IASTM are: tendinitis / tendinosis, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, myofascial restrictions, post-surgical scarring, neck and back pain, and ITB syndrome.
