Bio Mechanics At South Pointe Physical Rehab

Our physical rehab team aims to take a very individualistic approach to our patients physical rehabilitation. We will analyze certain body movements that may be directly or indirectly causing pain or decreasing your optimal functionality. We will dive into specifics of your daily life starting from your work environment, physical activities, hobbies, down to walking mechanics and getting out of bed every day.

You will understand how improper movement patterns can increase pressure, tissue breakdown, and increasing inflammation to your injury or chronic pain area. Something as simple as putting on your shoes improperly can be setting back your recovery. By educating our patients on the correct movement patterns and supplying you with a distinct Home Exercise Program we can fix these. This will increase your recovery times, decrease pain, and most importantly decrease repeat injuries.

How Will Bio Mechanical Analysis Help Me?

This method of analysis is no new topic, it was first proposed in a book by the Greek philosopher Aristotle, over 2000 years ago. Bio Mechanics is described as a science that focuses on the structure and movement of the human body and focuses on muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones. When a patient is receiving physical rehabilitation care, properly assessing the bio mechanics of the individual is one of the first steps taken by Doctors of Chiropractic (DC), which acts as the starting point for evidence based treatment from your chiropractor.

Many of the isolated pain symptoms that patients experience can be traced back to a bio mechanical flaw, which is essentially an incorrect path of movement that over time causes pain symptoms. The improvement of these biomechanics provides the base for treatment methodologies used by Doctors of Chiropractic.
